Scrubs and a Calculator: Utah State Fair

Utah State Fair

One of my favorite things about the Fall season are fairs. I’m not quite sure why I like them so much, but it might  have a lot to do with funnel cake.  Dave, I, Ryan, and Kerali went to the Utah State Fair. The fair has such a fun environment and this year was no exception. One thing we did, that I hadn’t done in the past, was go down the giant yellow slide. It was really fun. I was surprised at how fast you got going. This is definitely my new favorite fair ride. When Dave got to the bottom of the slide, he pulled something out of his back pocket and said, “no wonder that kind of hurt.” He had a paring knife in his pocket. Someone from a cooking demonstration had given us this knife earlier in the evening. Dave stuck it in his back pocket because we didn’t know what else to do with it. Luckily it had cardboard around the blade so It hadn’t cut him. Lesson learned- don’t accept a paring knife when you don’t have anywhere to put it for the rest of the night.  We stopped and saw the giant butter sculpture (which was to represent the royal wedding) and was quite impressive. We also watched a hypnotist show which was hilarious. I’m not quite sure how I feel about hypnosis, but one of the guys that was hypnotized was hilarious. He had quite the dance moves every time a Backstreet Boys song was played and made some pretty funny comments. We enjoyed a little too much deep fried fair food. My favorite was still the funnel cake. Dave tried a deep fried Snickers and really liked it. The grossest food item I saw was a deep fried Twinkie that had a slice of bacon stuffed in with the Twinkie filling. Sounds disgusting. It was a wonderful night of great company, food, and entertainment.
